The Key to Your Destiny

We’re surrounded by the negativity of the moment. The economy is suffering, and jobs are being lost. People are losing their homes, and the stock market is down again. While the news can be depressing, it should not be a snapshot of your future.

We’ll all feel the impact of what’s happening in the economy today. Some will experience a more direct hit than others, but we’ll all feel it in our own way. Regardless of the severity, our future cannot be shaped by the circumstances of the moment. Instead, it must be based on our ability to shape our own future.

As I’ve been considering how the negative news we hear every day will impact how we lead ourselves and those around us, I was reminded of the following quote by Elaine Maxwell:

“My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man's doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me or I can be lost in the maze. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny.”
