A Gift for Christmas

In 2007 a Christmas family-comedy titled Fred Claus was released. The movie starred Vince Vaughn, the bitter older brother of Santa Claus. One year Santa couldn’t fulfill his duties, and Fred steps in to get the job done on Christmas Eve. Before he leaves, he says this to Santa:

“You know, Nick, there’s been one thing that’s been eatin’ at me since I got here. That naughty-nice list that you got? There’s no naughty kids, Nick. They’re all good kids. Some of ‘em are scared and some of ‘em don’t feel listened to. Some of ‘em had some pretty tough breaks, too. But every kid deserves a present on Christmas.”

I can remember the joy of opening presents as a child, and it saddens me to think of a single child without a gift on Christmas morning. There is one more week until Christmas, and most communities have a toy drive like Toys for Tots. I challenge every person reading this blog to purchase a gift for a child and deliver it to one of those programs — because every kid deserves a present on Christmas.

May God bless you and your family this Christmas season!
